Summer School
Here at CN4, we are proud to invest in the future, whether it is helping recruit and train campaign staff, to hosting summer internships at our firm. Investing in young people now will only strengthen the movements and the campaigns we work so hard to build.
We wanted to take a moment and share a letter from Ari, a senior at Spelman College, who interned with us this summer.
Dear Team CN4,
As my summer internship with CN4 Partners draws to a close, I wanted to take a moment to share my experiences and express my gratitude for this incredible opportunity. As a senior at Spelman College majoring in sociology, this internship has been a transformative experience that exceeded all my expectations.
When I first started, I wanted an introduction to political consulting and knew that applying for an internship through the American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC, the trade group for the industry) would provide that opportunity. I had no real expectations other than a vague notion that political consultants handle the behind-the-scenes work. Little did I know just how intricate and fascinating that work entails. From meeting with potential clients to being introduced to the complexities of mailing and paid advertisement systems; to research, polling, website management and social media strategies, I’ve been introduced to so many areas of political consulting.
At CN4 Partners, they truly prioritize building teams that meet the unique needs of each campaign, whether we are serving as general consultants or planning and executing a direct mail program. This approach aided creating an amazing experience, especially given that I’m pursuing a degree in sociology. Throughout my studies, I learned the importance of adapting strategies to fit the unique needs of each person or group, a skill that aligns perfectly with CN4’s methods. This experience has shown me how vital it is to tailor our approach to ensure the success of every campaign we undertake.
I also had the pleasure of visiting Seattle, which was a blast! I attended a Seattle Storm game, savored some of the best food I’ve ever had, and had the pleasure of meeting Breann, Candace, and Dean. They welcomed me as if I had been part of the team for years, making the trip even more memorable.
Reflecting on what I’ve gained from this internship, I can’t help but marvel at how far I’ve come. Initially, I was a biology major on the pre-med track, aiming to become an anesthesiologist. Joining the Spelman Democrats introduced me to the world of politics, and I fell head over heels in love with it. During this summer, I also volunteered at the Kamala Harris rally in Georgia, handled debate correspondence for the Biden and Trump debate, and served as political correspondence for Trump’s speech at the Republican National Convention. This internship at CN4 Partners has solidified my passion for political consulting and equipped me with the tools and resources to kickstart my career. CN4 supported and uplifted me throughout these experiences, reinforcing my commitment to this career track.
Everyone on the team’s support and guidance have been invaluable, and if I had the chance to continue working here after the internship, I would jump at it. Special shoutout to Breann! From our daily calls before I start every morning, to the various campaign calls and talking about everything under the sun, you have made this experience one that I will never forget. You worked so hard to make sure I was exposed to every aspect, helped me every step of the way, and made sure to include me in every step of different decision making processes. My experience has been so amazing, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
Thank you all for an unforgettable summer. Here’s to the adventures ahead!
Warm regards,
Ari
